Among some ocean lovers, commercial fisherman (in this case sea urchin divers), have a farirly sketchy reputation - in many
cases well-deserved. We are a unique group of individuals, and a few of us are downright scoundrels, as proven by the cowardly
acts of poaching the precious abalone resource from our coastline. But in my opinion, based on involvement in the fishery since
1978, the vast majority of divers are honest, hard-working family men who are genuinely concerned about the health and care of
our marine environment.
